Dad

Update on dad; sounds like he will be getting out of the hospital today (Tuesday). he is going home with the chest tube. (?) His biopsy came back and unfortunately it is cancer. It's call a sarcoma, apparently its rare to be in the lung only 7% of the cancer patient have this. The good news is that it is contained with in the lung and doesn't appear to be spreading.
Mom is thrilled to have him coming home. She has missed him terribly. We will have to monitor him closely to make sure the chest tube is doing it's job. He will return in a week for more x-rays and with any luck the chest tube can be removed with in a month ( according to the doctors )
All though the news of cancer is scary for us all, we will take every day that we have to make it the best. Because of his lung condition surgery is not an option and we will have to look at radiation or chemo as a possibility. But for now we'll take one day at a time.

update on dad

Just a quick update on my dad. Dad was taken into the ER on Thursday the 17Th. He had a clasped lung and was kept over night in the ICU for observation and to have a chest tube placed. Because of his past lung problems the chest tube had to be placed the next day under radiology ultra sound scan. It was placed successfully and he was transferred down to a floor room were he still is.
Today (Monday) he was scheduled to have a biopsy of the tumor in his lung, unfortunately while down there his chest tube was accidentally pulled out and had to be replaced again. They were able to get the biopsy done as well. We wont here anything for a couple of days on the results.
Dad remains on Dom6B for the time being, as we wait for his lung to to heal. He was a bit cranky today but other wise looks good.

here's some pictures from Shannon's 21st b-day party. It was a lot of fun. She had a really good turn out of family and friends. Lets just say she didn't leave sober at all!!!!

Here's a slide show of our trip to Vegas. had a great time it was in the 90s and windy. but loved every minute of it. we gambled about 20.00s and that was about it. did a lot of site seeing and just plain relaxed...maybe drank a litte too.

Just wanted to send out a quick reminder of Shannons b-day party next thursday the 17th at Mickey's Irish Pub @ 5pm ( if you want to see her sober) he he and we will be off to Vegas saturday. Jakes in charge, yeah i know!!! I'll make sure to put up the vegas pics when we get home and after that i'm sure i'll have LOTS of pics from Shans b-day.

funny story....

OK so for those of us who have kids you'll totally relate...Jake our 18 year old had a scary dream Sunday night..hehe..after waking up from the dream he trys to go back to sleep, unfortunately for him his 3 Oscar's (they're fish ) decide to freak out and make a great deal of noise, freaking Jake out again. He (and while he's telling me this I'm laughing my ass off) flys out of bed grabbing his baseball bat...hehe..and runs into the family room turning on lights while he goes. In his own words " here i am standing in my underwear with a baseball bat staring at my fish thinking...i wonder if dad would let me crawl in bed with him...needless to say he figured Darrick would tell him to get his ass back to bed. So Jake decided to leave ALL the lights on in the lower level and return to bed where he said he finally fell a sleep only to wake up and find all the lights off again..freak out time again...hehe..it turns out Darrick had woken up and saw all the lights on and turned them off. Needles to say he didn't get much sleep that night!!!! Don't you just love that even at 18 they still what to crawl in bed with you after a scary dream!!!!
second funny story...
As Darrick was leaving for work today we did our normal routine...he pulls out of the drive way, looks up into the kitchen window (where I'm standing) waves and blows me a kiss. Sweet right! Except on this particular day one of the many kids walking to the bus stop happens to be in his direct line of vision and as he does this ....OK again I'm laughing my ass off...she stops looks at him and does that slow look over your shoulder thing...I still don't know if she saw me in the window or if she 's thinking Darrick blew her a kiss!!!!!!!

Oh thank god I have a family that makes me laugh EVERY day!!!!
